Take a Hike: A Tree Identification Adventure
FREE To help you learn about native trees, Woodland Dunes will offer a FREE do-it-yourself tree hike program starting in March. Pick up a tree key at the Nature Center and hike on Conifer Trail. Representative trees will be marked, and informative tree signs dot the trail. Take a Hike is part of our Adventure Backpack series, funded by a Besadny grant.
Kids Exploraday
Saturday, July 12, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Members, $1; Nonmembers, $2 Please call or e-mail to register.
Explore a pond, go on a geode hunt, and join an insect safari! In all, there will be five explorations to try. Activities start every 30 minutes beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 11:30 a.m. Rotate among the activities with your family. Healthy snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.
Butterfly Festival
Saturday, August 9, 9 a.m. to noon Members, $2, member family, $4; Nonmembers, $3, nonmember family $5
Learn about butterflies and the plants that attract them at this family fun event. Don't miss the live butterfly and caterpillar demonstrations, butterfly art projects, garden tours, and wildflower and butterfly hikes. Healthy snacks and drinks will be sold.
The Amazing Campfire
Saturday, September 20. Members, $2; non-members, $3
Join us for an evening of star viewing, night hikes, story telling, s'mores and more! Meet at the Goodwin Road trail head at dusk to start your evening of learning and fun! Please call the Nature Center (920) 793-4007 to register for this event. An EcoExplorer Event.
Five Buck Hootenanny
Saturday, September 27, 7 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30) Adults, $5; kids under 12, $2.
An evening of traditional folk music in the Edna Smith room of the Nature Center. Come and enjoy local favorite Bug-Eyed Pete, with additional performers to be announced.
Owlfest
Saturday, October 18. 8 a.m. to noon Members, $5/family; Nonmembers, $8/family
The annual event will feature demonstrations on how live owls are captured, banded, and released; family nature activities, food, and more.
Winnie Smith Harvest Dinner
Saturday, November 8. 6:30 p.m. $50/person.
Dinner, silent auction, and a special presentation by naturalist Bill Volkert about his travels in Bolivia, from the Amazon to the mountains.
Aegolius Bird Club
Open to anyone interested in the conservation and appreciation of birds. The club meets the second Tuesday of each month at at 7 pm at Woodland Dunes for a program, and also for a monthly field trip.

Wild Ones, a national organization of people interested in learning more about the conservation of native plants and their use in landscaping meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm at the nature center headquarters. Each meeting includes an education program, and the public is invited.
